(CNA reporter Huang Chiao-wen, Taipei, 16th) The Danjiang Bridge road run and cycling events will take place on the 18th and 19th. The Highway Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications reminded today that due to the high number of registrants, massive crowds and vehicle flows are expected to enter and exit Tamsui and Bali in New Taipei City, urging the public to use public transportation as much as possible.

The Danjiang Bridge, connecting Tamsui and Bali districts in New Taipei City, was designed by the internationally renowned Zaha Hadid Architects. Inspired by the dancing posture of the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, the main bridge has a total length of about 920 meters and a main span of 450 meters. Once opened, it will become the world's longest single-tower asymmetric cable-stayed bridge.

The Danjiang Bridge will officially open to traffic on May 12. The Ministry of Transportation previously estimated that a series of 10 pre-opening events would attract 25,000 to 30,000 participants. The road run event on April 18 will be held in the afternoon, featuring a 21K New Town Exploration group, a 5K Bridge Roaming group, and a 10K Light Rail Detour group. The cycling event on the morning of April 19 will feature a 50K Mountain Challenge group and a 20K Danjiang Bridge Leisure group.

The Highway Bureau stated in a press release that these two events will lead participants onto the not-yet-opened Danjiang Bridge, allowing them to personally experience the magnificent scenery of the nation's new gateway landmark and the Tamsui River estuary.

The Highway Bureau explained that according to the latest announcements on the event's official website, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 18th, the Tamsui Fuyou Temple procession will take place, and traffic controls will be implemented on Section 1, Zhongzheng East Road towards Fisherman's Wharf. Traffic on the Tamsui side is expected to be congested. Participants are advised to leave early and avoid driving into downtown Tamsui. If driving, it is recommended to enter via the Danjin Highway and allow for more travel time than usual.

In addition, the Highway Bureau urged the public to use public transportation and utilize the park-and-ride and shuttle services on the Bali side. On the 18th, people can take the MRT to Hongshulin Station and transfer to the Danhai Light Rail to Fisherman's Wharf Station to reach the venue.

The Highway Bureau noted that organizers have also planned shuttle services at MRT Tamsui Station and Guandu Station for participants who have pre-purchased shuttle tickets. To divert traffic from the Tamsui side, a free shuttle bus has been specially planned on the Bali side. It is recommended that those driving park their vehicles in legal parking spaces around Bali and transfer to the venue via shuttle to improve overall entry efficiency.

Regarding the cycling event on the 19th, the Highway Bureau suggested cyclists prioritize parking their vehicles at the Shihsanhang Cultural Park in Bali or legal parking lots around the Bali Administration Center, then ride their bicycles across the Danjiang Bridge to the venue during their designated time slots. This will not only improve entry efficiency but also allow them to fully experience the route connecting Bali and Tamsui.

The Highway Bureau reminded that the Danjiang Bridge is not yet officially open. During the events on the 18th and 19th, only registered participants holding "running bibs" or "bicycle helmet stickers" are permitted to enter the bridge. Non-registered individuals should not go, to avoid a wasted trip.

The Highway Bureau stated that relevant traffic controls, suggested public transport routes, shuttle schedules, Bali-side park-and-ride methods, and other pre-trip notices have been published on the official website. Participants are asked to check the latest information online before the event and follow the organizer's announcements and on-site guidance to jointly ensure the event runs smoothly and safely.
