(CNA Washington, 15th, Comprehensive Foreign Wire Report) U.S. President Donald Trump stated in an exclusive interview broadcast today on the Fox Business Network that he had sent a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping asking China not to provide weapons to Iran, and Xi replied in a letter stating he had not done so.

According to an AFP report, Donald Trump, in an interview with anchor Maria Bartiromo, said: "I heard that China is providing weapons to Iran, you see this news everywhere."

"I wrote to him asking him not to do this, and he wrote back to me, basically saying he didn't do it."

Trump warned countries last week that if they supply weapons to Iran, they would be immediately subjected to a 50% tariff.

China is a major importer of Iranian oil, and this conflict in the Middle East has further strained the already complex US-China relationship.

Trump is scheduled to visit China from May 14 to 15 for a summit with Xi Jinping. The summit was originally scheduled for the end of March but was postponed due to the U.S. war with Iran.

According to a Reuters report, Trump also mentioned in the interview that he does not believe the changes in the global oil market caused by the war in Iran or the shifting situation in Venezuela will affect the circumstances surrounding his planned talks with Xi Jinping next month.

In addition, during the interview, Trump was asked about recent reports of a massive cyberattack by China on the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He did not directly confirm the news, only saying: "We do it to them, they do it to us."

Trump said: "China is China. They are never easy to deal with, but we get along very well with China."

Trump also claimed to be the "toughest person" on China. (Translator: Yang Chao-yen) 1150415
