The Taoyuan City Department of Public Health stated that since yesterday, it has continuously received reports from hospitals regarding citizens who purchased lunch and dinner bentos from the Neili branch of Ueno BBQ Rice on the 13th and subsequently developed suspected food poisoning symptoms. As of 5:00 p.m. today, a total of 121 people have reported symptoms, of which 91 have sought medical treatment. The Health Bureau has sent relevant food and environmental samples to the laboratory.
The Health Bureau pointed out that if the investigation reveals the business violated the "Good Hygiene Practices" (GHP), it will be ordered to make improvements within a time limit. If it fails to improve within the deadline, it will be fined between NT$60,000 and NT$200 million in accordance with the "Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation." If test results confirm it is a food poisoning case, it will be referred to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office for investigation based on violations of the Food Safety Act.
