Southern Taiwan to Guard Against 36-Degree High Temperatures; Wu Der-Rong: Northern Taiwan to See Local Brief Showers

Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau issued a high temperature warning for Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung. Weather expert Wu Der-Rong predicts local brief showers and slightly lower temperatures in Northern Taiwan due to increasing moisture. Central News Agency (Taipei, April 15th) - The Central Weather Bureau today issued a high temperature warning, with Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung regions advised to guard against temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius. Weather expert Wu Der-Rong stated that moisture will gradually increase starting today, with Northern Taiwan likely to experience local brief showers and slightly lower temperatures.

The Central Weather Bureau today issued a high temperature warning, indicating clear and hot weather. Today, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County are under a yellow light warning, advising caution against temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius.

Wu Der-Rong, an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at National Central University, stated in his "Xie Tian Ji Classroom" column for the Weather Application Promotion Foundation today that the latest European model simulations show a weak front lingering north of Taiwan today and tomorrow. Most areas will be partly cloudy to sunny, with Northern Taiwan occasionally affected by its edge, experiencing local brief showers and slightly lower temperatures. Other areas will remain warm and hot.

Wu Der-Rong added that from the afternoon of the 17th to the 18th, a weak front will pass, bringing occasional local brief showers to Northern and Eastern Taiwan. Other areas will remain partly cloudy to sunny. The daytime on the 17th will still be hot; on the 18th, temperatures in Northern and Eastern Taiwan will slightly decrease, with Northern Taiwan being comfortable and Central and Southern Taiwan remaining hot.

Wu Der-Rong pointed out that from the 19th to the 21st, most areas will turn sunny and stable, with hot daytime temperatures and large day-night temperature differences. On the 22nd and 23rd, moisture will increase around Taiwan, the atmosphere will become unstable, cloud cover will slightly increase, and mountainous areas will have localized afternoon thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures will remain hot across all areas. On the 24th, another front will affect the region. Various international models are still adjusting for the end of the period, and continued observation is needed.

Wu Der-Rong mentioned that the latest data from the Central Weather Bureau shows that strong Typhoon "Sinlaku" is moving north-northwest over the sea north of Guam. The latest European ensemble model simulations indicate that Sinlaku will make a "U-turn" over the sea south of Japan in the future. The environmental "westerly wind shear" will gradually destroy its structure and continuously weaken it, posing no threat to Taiwan or Japan. (Edited by Li Hsi-Chang) 1150415
