(CNA Reporter Chiu Tsu-yin, Taipei, 15th) Continuing the energy of two previous independent bookstore events, the "2026 Independent Bookstore Festival" will be held on the 18th and 19th at the Treasure Hill Artist Village in Taipei. Combining a book market, a music festival, and cross-disciplinary talks, the event invites the public to experience the diverse charm of reading.
Hung Pei-tse, the curator and founder of "Hian-Lau Bookstore," told CNA in an interview that this year's event features participation from over 60 independent bookstores, publishers, and NGOs. Writers, creators, and musicians will team up to host 32 dialogue sessions, alongside more than 15 special projects.
Among the highly anticipated "Writer and Musician Co-performances," singer Enno Cheng will perform with Taiwanese poet Wen Jo-chiao. Other lineups include "Chao-lin, Tian-wen-wen ft. Wang Chao-hua," "Chong-ka-lang ft. Chen Ming-chang, Chen Yen-yu," "Yang Shu-ya ft. Chang Yi-hsuan, Sonic Deadhorse," and "someshit Sam ft. Huang Yuan-mao."
In terms of "Special Projects," the unique "Overworked Lay Flat Conference" will feature a discussion between writer Yang Shuang-tzu, illustrator Hom, and media professional Chen Yi-ching. The "Riverside Jogging Special" invites the public to run and chat with writers Ku Yu-ling and Chang Hui-ching.
For the "Cross-disciplinary Talks," highlights include a behind-the-scenes discussion between Chen Hsin-tsung, host of the recently buzzed program "What I Want to Ask Is...", and producer Lei Ya-chi; bookstore worker Shen Ju-ying discussing the book industry with Chung Shang-hua, manager of "San Yu Bookstore"; and multiple panels including "Sorry Youth"'s Chang Wei-ni and "The Reporter" journalist Hsu Shih-kai.
Additionally, the on-site "Treasure Hill Light Festival - Limited Starlight Session" features light-related installation art created by artists, showcasing the unique nighttime aesthetic of "Treasure Hill." It also launches a special bookstore festival session with main speakers including combinations like "Huang Li-chun x Cheng Kuo-cheng," "Jen Ming-hsin x Chen Fan-chi," and "Wu Hsiao-le x Jayni."
