Two fatalities in a car and motorcycle accident in Yanshui, Tainan; drivers pronounced dead at hospital.

On April 13, 2026, at 10:41 AM, the Tainan City Fire Department received a report of a car and motorcycle accident on Provincial Highway 19, Jiuying section, Sanming Village, Yanshui District. Emergency services dispatched four vehicles and eight personnel. Upon arrival, they found the car severely damaged after hitting a guardrail. The two injured individuals, 70-year-old female car driver Ms. Ding and 70-year-old male motorcycle rider Mr. Yang, were both found to be in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). They were transported to Liuying Chimei Hospital and Sinying Hospital but succumbed to their injuries. Due to a lack of surveillance cameras nearby, police initially hypothesize that the car was traveling south to north and the motorcycle north to south, leading to a collision and the car subsequently hitting the guardrail. Zhang Minghua, head of the traffic division at Tainan City Police Bureau's Sinying Precinct, stated that the case has been referred to the Tainan District Prosecutor's Office for further investigation into the cause of the accident.
