US-Iran War Key News
(Central News Agency, Washington, April 13, comprehensive foreign report) US President Trump said today at the White House that Iran proactively called hoping to reach an agreement, and he also mentioned that he has not yet spoken with Chinese President Xi Jinping, but Xi Jinping hopes to see the Iran war end.
CNN reported that Trump said the US government received a 'call from the other side' this morning, stating that (Iran) 'very much wants to make a deal.'
Trump made these remarks to reporters at the White House, less than three hours after the US imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports. Marathon talks between the US and Iran held in Pakistan over the weekend failed to reach an agreement.
Trump emphasized that the sticking point in negotiations is 'the nuclear issue,' adding that 'Iran will not have nuclear weapons.'
He said: 'We agreed on many things, but they didn't agree on this, and I think they will agree. I'm almost certain, in fact, I'm certain. If they don't agree, there will be no deal, and there will never be a deal.'
According to Bloomberg News, when asked whether the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz was aimed at forcing Iran back to the negotiating table or restoring passage through the strait to lower oil prices, Trump replied: 'Both, and more.'
He also stated that Iran's blockade of the strait is 'blackmailing the world,' and the US will not allow this to happen.
Trump also told reporters at the White House that 'our relationship with China is quite good,' and Xi Jinping 'hopes' to see this war end.
Trump had earlier posted: 'Yesterday, a total of 34 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz, the highest number since this foolish blockade began.' (Compiler: Qu Xiangping) 1150414
