A fatal accident occurred on Taiwan Railways (TRA) when a passenger entered the tracks near Shicheng Station, resulting in single-line operation between Fulong and Dali and causing train delays. The line is expected to resume normal operations by 5:30 PM.

Taiwan Railways (TRA) announced that at approximately 4:05 PM today, a passenger intruded onto the tracks in the eastern line section between Fulong and Dali (K37, near Shicheng Station) and was struck by the 4032 intercity express train. Railway police and emergency services (119) were immediately notified and dispatched to the scene.

The eastern line between Fulong and Dali is currently closed, with single-line bidirectional operation on the western line. According to the official website, both northbound and southbound trains are experiencing delays, with normal operations expected to resume around 5:30 PM.

TRA stated that train 4032 will be suspended between Dali and Hualien, and its passengers will be transferred to train 4198. The railway police will continue to investigate the incident.

TRA urges the public to respect and cherish life, and to refrain from entering railway tracks to prevent train accidents, which can cause travel disruptions and affect the rights of the general public. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150414
