Taiwan Stock Market Sees Intraday Swings and Consolidation, Passive Components and CPO Groups Strengthen

Taiwan's stock market experienced minor intraday swings due to Middle East uncertainties. While TSMC's stock price fell, passive components and CPO (Co-packaged Optics) related stocks performed strongly. Analysts attribute this to pre-emptive investments ahead of TSMC's upcoming investor conference.

(Central News Agency, Taipei, 13th, Reporter Ho Hsiu-ling) Taiwan's stock market experienced minor intraday swings of over 200 points today, hovering around the flat line. Benchmark stock TSMC fell by 10 NTD to 1990 NTD. With TSMC's investor conference scheduled for the 16th, passive component concept stocks performed well today, and CPO concept stocks also strengthened.

As of 10:10 AM, the benchmark index was at 35379.59 points, down 38.24 points, a decrease of 0.11%, with a turnover of approximately 377.586 billion NTD. Among blue-chip stocks, Hon Hai rose by 0.5 NTD, breaking above the 200 NTD mark; MediaTek rose by 70 NTD to 1645 NTD; Delta Electronics rose by 20 NTD to 1755 NTD.

The electronic sector index fluctuated around the flat line, while the financial sector index fell by 1.07%; the over-the-counter (OTC) index, representing small and medium-sized stocks, rose by 0.49%.

Passive component concept stocks performed well intraday, including Polytronics, Capxon, Synpec-KY, MLCC, Lelon, and Holy Stone, which hit their daily limit at 47.85 NTD, 61.6 NTD, 198.5 NTD, 81.8 NTD, 162.5 NTD, and 213 NTD respectively.

Among CPO concept stocks, Advanpack Technology hit its daily limit at 317.5 NTD; LuxNet, InnoVax, Homer Technology, and Universal Scientific Industrial Co., Ltd. (USI) also strengthened intraday, with increases ranging from approximately 3% to nearly 8%.

Senior analyst Wang Chao-li told Central News Agency that with no clear outcome from the US-Iran talks, market sentiment is cautious, and the benchmark index will maintain intraday swings and consolidation. Today's closing is expected to be slightly up or down around the flat line.

He stated that as TSMC's investor conference will be held on the 16th, related supply chains are performing strongly, including capital inflow into passive component groups, showing individual stock performance. He pointed out that the market is positioning itself for TSMC's investor conference, and the Taiwan stock index still has a chance to challenge new highs this week. (Edited by Pan Yi-ching) 1150413
