Taichung Police Officer Sustains Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound in Station; Investigation Underway

On the morning of April 14, the Taichung City Fire Department was dispatched to the Jifeng Police Station in Wufeng District for a trauma case. A 56-year-old officer, surnamed Lin, was found with a suspected gunshot wound to the chin and was immediately sent to China Medical University Hospital for emergency care. The Taichung City Police Bureau's Wufeng Precinct confirmed the self-inflicted injury and stated that there were no initial signs of external factors. A forensic team has been dispatched to the scene, and surveillance footage is being reviewed to determine the cause. The officer was responsible for managing police equipment for the precinct's administrative group and was described as a diligent worker. The precinct will arrange for counseling services for other officers.
