Chiayi Mayor Election: Chang Chi-kai Wins Blue-White Alliance Poll, Wang Mei-hui Hopes for Rational Competition

The mayoral election in Chiayi will see former Taiwan People's Party legislator Chang Chi-kai compete against Wang Mei-hui, a legislator nominated by the Democratic Progressive Party, after winning the 'Blue-White Alliance' poll. Wang Mei-hui stated through a press release that she respects the selection methods and mechanisms of other parties, as well as the candidates nominated by each party. She hopes the subsequent mayoral election campaign will be conducted on a rational and positive basis with fair competition. Wang Mei-hui said that she has been deeply cultivating Chiayi for 22 years, taking one step at a time, and will continue to create a new chapter for Chiayi with concrete actions and pragmatic measures. Wang Mei-hui also urged the KMT and the TPP to prioritize people's welfare and to expeditiously deliberate the general budget and special resolutions in the central government, so that politics does not affect national and local development. The KMT Chiayi branch stated that many party members called to inquire about the poll results. Upon learning that the candidate from the TPP had won, there were not many negative reactions, as the consensus was to support the candidate jointly nominated by the Blue-White Alliance.
