Nantou Holds Tung Blossom Hike and Picnic Concert to Promote Hakka Culture

The "Nantou County Hakka Carnival, Chill and Listen Together" series of events will take place from April 18 to July 11, the County Government announced today. The events include the Hakka Tung Blossom Festival, Hakka Blue Picnic Concert, Hakka language singing competition, and children's drama performances. Nantou County Magistrate Xu Shuhua said that the County Government is organizing these events in conjunction with the townships of Guosheng, Zhongliao, Nantou City, and Shuili, and welcomes everyone to experience Hakka culture. Xu Shuhua stated that the County Government has been holding Hakka Cultural Festival series events since 2018, originally biennially. In response to the enthusiastic requests from the public and Hakka associations, the events were adjusted to be held annually starting in 2023. This year, the events have been expanded, the duration extended, and a Hakka language singing competition has been added to encourage students and the public to learn Hakka songs, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of Hakka culture. The Nantou County Government Cultural Affairs Bureau's Hakka Development Office stated that the main event, the "Hakka Blue Picnic Concert," will be held on May 16 at the Zhongxing New Village Qinqing Park, combining picnics, markets, musical performances, and celebrity appearances. The event also includes the Baguashan Tung Blossom Hike, Shuili Hike, Mountain Story Walk, and Slow Zhongliao, among other hiking and mountain experiences, inviting the public to stroll through the mountains and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Tung blossoms.
