Black Dog Trapped in Dense Forest Hard to Find; New Taipei Animal Protection's Thermal Imaging Succeeds

The New Taipei City Government Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office issued a press release stating that it recently received a report from the public that intermittent dog barking was heard in a valley near Shen'ao Road in Ruifang District, suspecting a dog was trapped. However, local residents and foreign workers were mobilized to enter the mountain multiple times to search without success. The Animal Protection Office stated that due to the steep terrain, tree cover, and sea breeze disrupting the direction of the sound, they were unable to pinpoint the location of the trapped dog. They decided to dispatch a rescue team carrying "thermal imaging equipment" into the forest during the early morning hours. In the dark environment, they successfully locked onto a weak heat source. After overcoming steep slopes and dense forest obstacles, they successfully found the black dog that had been trapped for many days. The Animal Protection Office stated that the dog was trapped between the mountain wall and trees, its body tangled and stuck in branches, unable to free itself. After being rescued, a veterinarian examined it and confirmed that its health condition was stable. Subsequently, depending on its recovery progress, it will be neutered, vaccinated against rabies, implanted with a microchip, and complete pet registration.
