Transportation Minister Chen Shih-kai visited the Danjiang Bridge construction site today to inspect the final stages of the overall project, the series of events leading up to the opening, and the preparations for the official opening on May 12.

Chen Shih-kai pointed out that the Danjiang Bridge will become Taiwan's new international calling card. Although not yet open to traffic, 10 series of events will be held beforehand, with an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 participants in total.

Chen mentioned that in addition to a road run on April 18 and a cycling event on April 19, there will also be activities such as picnicking on the bridge, street parades, and a starry sky concert. President Lai Ching-te will also personally attend the opening ceremony on the evening of May 9.

Chen highlighted that it is an honor to invite the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre to the opening ceremony, which will be a major highlight of the day. Cloud Gate will present the world premiere of a piece specifically choreographed for the Danjiang Bridge.

Chen Yung-chieh, Director of the Northern Region Branch of the Highway Bureau, Ministry of Transportation, pointed out that on the day of the opening ceremony, besides a lighting ceremony and a drone show, there will also be a "Summoning the Heroes" segment to honor the engineering heroes, allowing them to enter under the escort of the Tamsui Mounted Police.

Connecting Tamsui and Bali, the Danjiang Bridge spans the mouth of the Tamsui River. The main bridge has a total length of about 920 meters, with a main span of 450 meters, making it the world's longest single-tower asymmetric cable-stayed bridge. It was designed by the internationally renowned architectural firm Zaha Hadid Architects. (Editor: Hsiao Po-wen) 1150409
