Will there be a "Xi-Cheng Meeting"? TAO: "Appropriate arrangements will be made for all itineraries."

The Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) of the State Council of the People's Republic of China held a regular press conference this morning, hosted by Zhu Fenglian. Regarding the KMT delegation's planned visits in Beijing, particularly the potential "Xi-Cheng meeting" with General Secretary Xi Jinping, the TAO stated that appropriate arrangements would be made for all itineraries during the delegation's visit to Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Beijing. Zhu Fenglian reiterated that both sides of the strait belong to one China, and that cross-strait affairs are a "family matter" that should be resolved through discussion among family members. She also stated willingness to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations with Taiwanese parties, including the KMT, on the common political basis of adhering to the "1992 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence." She added that Cheng Li-wen's delegation visiting the mainland, engaging in dialogue and exchanges on this common political basis, aligns with the "mainstream public opinion" in Taiwan that desires peace, exchange, development, and cooperation, and is significant for promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and safeguarding the interests and well-being of the Taiwanese people.
