(Central News Agency reporter Chao Li-yan, Taichung, July 16) The Taichung City Council will convene on July 27, with a four-day agenda of special reports scheduled. Topics include cooking oil safety mechanisms related to Zhonglian Oils, school lunch waste collection and disposal, and parking planning for the Taichung Mega Dome, covering 19 cases in total. This will be Mayor Lu Shiow-yen’s final policy address and general municipal questioning session.
The Taichung City Council held its procedural committee meeting today, chaired by Speaker Chang Ching-chao, which approved the July 27 opening. The session was originally scheduled to close on October 5, but due to budget reviews, the procedural committee proposed extending the closing date to October 13. The four-day special report agenda still requires approval by the full council.
The special report agenda includes the ongoing Zhonglian Oils tainted oil case, with a dedicated report on cooking oil safety mechanisms and inspection procedures. Other reports include school lunch food waste collection, treatment, funding allocation, and citywide waste solutions; parking planning for the Taichung Mega Dome and traffic relief for the Waterfront Trade Park; and detailed budget expenditures for the Taichung Shopping Festival and Hotpot Festival, totaling 19 cases.
This session marks the final meeting period of the current city council and will be the last time Mayor Lu Shiow-yen delivers her policy address and faces general questioning at the city council. (Edited by Chang Ming-kun) 1150716
