After one year of training and inter-kindergarten collaborative learning, Daxi Kindergarten, along with 17 public kindergartens in the city, held a results presentation today, transforming reading into dynamic exploration.
The Taoyuan City Government Department of Education stated that to deepen early childhood reading education, the kindergarten reading education program was promoted. The Department of Education gave an example: Fuxing District Public Kindergarten integrated food education picture books into the class's "millet curriculum." By having children sow and care for seeds themselves, observe and record daily, they can appreciate the preciousness of crop growth and food. The experiential activity guided young children to use growth cards to concretely understand the "from farm to table" journey of food through reading.
Taoyuan City Xinwu Kindergarten started with health picture books, guiding children to establish good hygiene habits, implement balanced diets, and engage in regular exercise. The kindergarten also used emotion picture books to lead young children to recognize diverse emotions, express their true feelings, and paired this with a "mood calendar" activity, allowing children to create art with straws to enhance their emotional awareness.
In addition, Dayuan District Puxin Elementary School Affiliated Kindergarten used environmental sustainability picture books to guide children in learning the spirit of cherishing resources through "reuse and source reduction." Daxi Kindergarten used ecology picture books to lead young children to personally plant small trees and raise tadpoles, learning the important implications of recognizing life growth, biodiversity, and environmental protection.
The Department of Education stated that the city government is integrating educational resources and encouraging kindergartens to develop innovative and diverse learning curricula. In conjunction with the Ministry of Education's subsidy for public kindergarten library funds for the 114th academic year, reading is integrated into classrooms through activities, transforming static reading into cross-disciplinary dynamic inquiry activities, allowing kindergarten teachers to root reading in daily life.
