(Central News Agency, Reporter Lin Chia-lien, Kaohsiung, July 3) The controversy surrounding Kaohsiung City's joint teacher recruitment for the 114th academic year is escalating. One candidate has filed an administrative lawsuit, suing 18 school principals at once. The Education Bureau stated that it has initiated a support mechanism and will uniformly cover litigation expenses and appoint lawyers to support the schools.
The incident originated last year when a candidate participated in Kaohsiung City's teacher recruitment. The candidate scored 70 points in the written exam and proceeded to the second round. However, upon checking the results, the candidate discovered an unreasonable score of only 20 points for the teaching demonstration. The candidate believes the teaching unit was not flawed and the process was completed smoothly, making the 20-point score a clear violation of norms.
The candidate filed an administrative lawsuit, naming all members of the joint teacher recruitment committee and 18 public high school principals as defendants. Among them was the late Principal Lu Bing-shan of Zhongzheng High School, who passed away recently. The fact that the court date coincided with Lu Bing-shan's memorial service has deeply saddened many in the education sector, lamenting the difficulties of the education profession today.
The Kaohsiung City Education Bureau issued a statement today, indicating that schools began receiving litigation notices sequentially on June 30. The Education Bureau immediately activated its support mechanism. On July 1, it convened a meeting with the principals to explain the subsequent judicial procedures. The bureau will also uniformly cover litigation expenses and appoint lawyers to assist schools with the ongoing legal matters, supporting the joint teacher recruitment committee in conducting the selection process in accordance with the law and allowing schools to focus on their educational duties with peace of mind.
The Education Bureau pointed out that the case has undergone appeal, administrative appeal, and administrative investigation procedures. The results of the relevant reviews have all determined that the recruitment process complied with the regulations of the "Key Points for Teacher Recruitment in Public Senior High Schools and Below" and the "Kaohsiung Municipal Senior High School Teacher Recruitment Operating Regulations." The procedures were legal and complete, and no instances of favoritism, fraud, or other misconduct were found.
The Education Bureau stated that teacher recruitment involves a high degree of professionalism and human judgment. The recruitment procedures and examination affairs handled by the competent authorities and schools in accordance with laws and regulations should be respected. If a candidate seeks administrative relief through legal channels, the Education Bureau will fully cooperate with the judicial process to clarify the facts through litigation.
The Education Bureau emphasized that it will continue to maintain close contact with all schools, provide necessary administrative and legal support, and, through the judicial process, demonstrate the legality and fairness of the joint teacher recruitment operations, thereby safeguarding the fairness of the recruitment system and the stability of school operations. of school operations.
