Chiang Wan-an Supports Drone Industry Development, Hopes Legislative Yuan Passes Bill

The Executive Yuan's administrative meeting on June 18 passed the draft "Special Regulations for the Procurement of Unmanned Vehicles for National Defense Autonomy." The scale is set according to the provisions of the Budget Act, with a special budget of up to NT$210 billion for the required expenses. The caucuses of the Kuomintang and the Taiwan People's Party in the Legislative Yuan have also proposed their own versions.

Furthermore, U.S. President Donald Trump again claimed that Taiwan has taken 100% of the chip industry, but under tariff measures, chip manufacturers are moving back to the United States from Taiwan, with 40% to 60% of chip manufacturing expected to be located in the U.S. before the end of his term.

Chiang Wan-an, speaking to reporters before attending the press conference for the release of Taipei City's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education Policy White Paper this morning, said that Mark Liu, Chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited, once said that the most advanced manufacturing processes will always start in Taiwan and will always be firmly established in Taiwan. Many international chip manufacturers have also thanked Taiwan, and he hopes the government will do its utmost to protect this "guardian mountain" (護國神山), which is Taiwan's important economic lifeline.
