(Central News Agency, Keelung, July 3rd) Benzo[a]pyrene, a carcinogen, has exceeded standards in Chung Lien soybean salad oil, with the product distributed to multiple businesses. The Keelung City Government Department of Health stated today that there are five related downstream businesses in Keelung. After an investigation, all oil products have been sold out, except for one brand, Yikang Soybean Salad Oil, which still has inventory. The business has been instructed to remove 306kg from shelves.
The Keelung City Department of Health pointed out that yesterday, they successively received notifications from the Taichung City Government Department of Food and Drug Safety and the Changhua County Department of Health regarding problematic cooking oil sold by "Formosa Oil Products Co., Ltd." and "Taisun Enterprise Co., Ltd.," which involved five downstream businesses in Keelung.
The Keelung City Department of Health stated that after an investigation, most of the oil products have been sold out. Only one supplier's Yikang Soybean Salad Oil still has inventory, and the business has been asked to cooperate with the removal of 306kg from shelves.
Keelung City Department of Health Director Chang Hsien-cheng said that they will continue to track the removal and recall of related products on the market. He also urged citizens to stop consuming the affected cooking oil and to return it for a refund. If any non-compliant products are found still being sold on shelves, citizens are asked to notify the Department of Health immediately, and the department will send personnel to investigate.
