University of Culture and National Palace Museum Sign MOU to Jointly Offer Korean Tour Guide Training Program

(Central News Agency, Taipei, July 3) - Chinese Culture University and the National Palace Museum signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, with plans to jointly offer a Korean language tour guide program in February 2027. The two institutions will also collaborate on cultivating talent in artifact research, museum education, and exhibition planning.

University of Culture President Wang Tzu-chi and National Palace Museum Director-General Shiao Tsung-huang signed the MOU, signaling their commitment to nurturing a new generation of talent equipped with language proficiency, cultural literacy, and cross-cultural communication skills, setting a new paradigm for shared institutional resources.

Wang Tzu-chi stated that the Korean Language Department at the University of Culture is a key department for cultivating professional Korean language talent, maintaining close cooperation with 54 universities and academic institutions in Korea. This agreement with the National Palace Museum marks a new chapter in their collaboration, expected to establish a training model for Korean language tour guides that combines theory and practice.

Wang Tzu-chi expressed his hope that through this collaboration, more young people will gain a deep understanding of cultural content while learning Korean, becoming important bridges for promoting international cultural exchange in the future and enhancing Taiwan's cultural visibility on the international stage.

Shiao Tsung-huang, an alumnus of the University of Culture's Fine Arts Department, noted the deep ties between the National Palace Museum and the University of Culture. Former Museum Director-General Chin Hsiao-yi served as a trustee of the university, and several researchers have taught at the university. Furthermore, the University of Culture has entities like the Huakang Museum, paving the way for future in-depth cooperation in areas such as exhibition planning, publication promotion, and digital databases.

With an increase in Korean tourists in recent years, the National Palace Museum convened a seminar with academic experts in April to discuss Korean language tour guide talent. This MOU signing with the University of Culture is one step in that process. The two institutions plan to jointly offer a Korean language tour guide training program in February 2027, strengthening students' international cultural promotion capabilities and career competitiveness.
