(CNA Taipei, July 3) -- A Taiwanese-invested company in the Philippines held its 4th annual "Project: Ligaya - Taiwan Day" event today at a primary school in Bulacan Province, inviting hundreds of local students to participate in Taiwanese cultural experiences and deepen Taiwan-Philippines friendship through private initiatives.
The event took place today at a primary school in Bocaue, Bulacan Province, with approximately 350 upper-grade students participating. The organizer, Thick and Thin Agricultural Products Company, arranged interactive experiences such as Chinese couplet calligraphy, Dragon Boat Festival cultural introductions, Taiwanese traditional toys, Taiwanese specialty snacks, and a Taiwan knowledge quiz, allowing Filipino students to learn about Taiwanese culture and lifestyle.
The organizer stated that the "Project: Ligaya" public welfare cultural exchange program was established in memory of the company's founder, Hsieh Shih-ying.
According to the introduction, Hsieh Shih-ying went to the Philippines to develop his career in 1984, started his business in 1990, and established a stable foundation in the feed and animal nutrition industry in the Philippines. He passed away in 2025, and the company and his family decided to continue promoting "Project: Ligaya" as an important platform to carry on his public welfare philosophy.
This year's event featured a bubble tea experience zone, sponsored by the Taiwanese snack chain "Ersao," allowing participating students to taste Taiwan's representative bubble tea and understand its cultural background, making it one of the most popular activities on site.
In addition to cultural experiences, the organizer also introduced students to Taiwan's achievements in fields such as education, healthcare, technological innovation, and cultural development, hoping to enhance the understanding of Taiwan among the younger generation in the Philippines through a fun and educational approach.
At the opening ceremony, Hsieh Cheng-han, General Manager of Thick and Thin Company, stated that the company will continue to use cultural exchange, educational promotion, and public welfare services as bridges to deepen the friendship between the people of Taiwan and the Philippines.
Local officials and school representatives expressed their gratitude for the company's long-term support for community development and educational work, acknowledging "Project: Ligaya" for providing students with learning opportunities that are both educational and culturally significant.
