(Central News Agency, reporter Su Mu-chun, Taichung, July 3) A man surnamed Lin was driving in Taichung City's West District today when he collided with a car while turning, causing a multi-car pile-up. A total of two people, including Lin, were injured. Police arrived at the scene and administered a drug saliva rapid test to him, which came back positive. He was subsequently arrested and police are requesting the prosecutor's office to seek his pre-trial detention.

The First Precinct of the Taichung City Police Bureau stated that at 10:04 AM today, they received a report of a multi-car accident at the intersection of Taiwan Boulevard Section 2 and Zhongming South Road in the West District, and immediately dispatched officers to the scene.

Police investigation revealed that 30-year-old Lin was driving a passenger car and was making a left turn from Taiwan Boulevard Section 2 towards Zhongming South Road. He rear-ended a stationary passenger car driven by 46-year-old Zhang. After being hit, Zhang's car then consecutively rear-ended passenger cars driven by 36-year-old Shen and 62-year-old Chen.

The accident resulted in leg injuries for Lin and abrasions and bruises to the hands and legs of Zhang. Both were sent to the hospital for treatment and are not in life-threatening condition. Police administered a drug saliva rapid test to Lin at the scene, which showed a positive reaction. Police immediately arrested Lin in accordance with Article 185 of the Criminal Code (Endangering Public Transportation) and transferred him to the Taiwan Taichung District Prosecutors Office for investigation.
