(Central News Agency, Taipei, July 3) The A7 Northern Taiwan Mail Processing Center was previously reported to have a "no sitting" order. Although Chunghwa Post has clarified this, a legislator stated the order has not been lifted. Only after receiving further complaints did the postal company allocate 29 chairs, three of which were damaged. Chunghwa Post stated that sufficient seats will be provided and will arrive today.

In June of this year, it was reported that the A7 Registered Mail Division allegedly implemented a "no sitting" order. Chunghwa Post clarified at the time that the company had no regulations prohibiting employees from sitting while working.

Taiwan People's Party Legislator Chen Chao-tzu posted on Facebook today, stating that she recently received complaints from the Taiwan Postal Workers Union and grassroots employees, alleging that the "no sitting" order has still not been lifted. "When employees in other units are equipped with high chairs and can choose to sit or stand while working, is it really that difficult for colleagues in the A7 Registered Mail Division to just want a chair?"

Chen Chao-tzu pointed out that after receiving complaints, her office immediately contacted the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Ministry of Labor. The postal company urgently allocated 29 chairs on the evening of July 1st as a temporary measure. However, three of these chairs were broken, unable to be adjusted, or wobbly. New chairs, which have been procured, are expected to arrive today.

Chunghwa Post responded via message, stating that the mail sorting workstations are approximately 1.7 to 1.8 meters high. In the past, some employees expressed that they did not need seats for sorting efficiency. Before the current procurement, a survey was conducted among employees regarding the number of seats needed, and only a few reported a requirement.

Chunghwa Post stated that after receiving complaints from employees at the processing center, it has instructed the processing center to provide a sufficient number of seats, which will be in place today. (Editor: Kuan Chung-wei) 1150703
