KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CNA, foreign news) - Tampa Bay Rays slugger Junior Caminero hit a two-run homer in the first inning of Tuesday's game against the Kansas City Royals, extending his home run streak to six consecutive games. He becomes the youngest player in Major League Baseball history to achieve this feat since at least 1900.

According to Reuters, the 22-year-old Caminero, who is 22 years and 361 days old, hit the home run on the first pitch from Royals right-hander Seth Lugo in the first inning. The third baseman, who was selected to his first All-Star team in 2025, has hit nine home runs in his last eight games and has 24 homers this season.

Legendary player Ken Griffey Jr. was 23 years and 246 days old when he homered in six consecutive games on July 25, 1993. He later extended his streak to eight games, tying the MLB record held jointly by Dale Long (1956) and Don Mattingly (1987).

Legendary stars Willie Mays and slugger Nolan Arenado were both 24 years old when they homered in six consecutive games. As for the Rays' team record, Carlos Pena's streak of six consecutive games with a home run from June 6-12, 2010, has now been matched by Caminero.

Prior to this season, Caminero had played in 286 regular-season games, hitting 75 career home runs with a batting average of .269, an slugging percentage of .518, and an on-base percentage of .330. (Compiled by Chen Yu-ting) 1150702
