(CNA, reporter Pan Tzu-yu, Taipei, July 2) The Ministry of Digital Affairs held a press conference today for the "2026 Presidential Cup Hackathon International Session" to issue a global call for entries. Innovative teams worldwide are invited to submit their solutions by the July 31 deadline, encouraging the use of digital technology and AI applications to consider how to lower the barriers to technology use, enabling more people to participate fairly in a digital society and share the convenience and benefits brought by AI development.
The Presidential Cup Hackathon International Session is a flagship international event hosted by Taiwan, guided by the Presidential Office, organized by the Executive Yuan, and executed by the Ministry of Digital Affairs. Since its inception in 2019, it has entered its 8th year and has attracted teams from over 55 countries and regions in the past three years.
The theme for this competition is "Digital Inclusion in the AI Era." Minister of Digital Affairs, Lin Nien-tsu, stated that facing the rapid development of AI and the deep integration of digital technology into daily life, countries worldwide are actively considering how to leverage digital tools to improve the efficiency of public services, promote social inclusion, and respond to the actual needs of people's lives.
Lin Nien-tsu said that this event is expected to gather the wisdom of innovative teams from around the world, inspire more proposals that combine AI technology with innovative thinking, create solutions with public value and practical application potential, and promote the implementation of results. He also encouraged teams from different fields, regardless of age or nationality, to seize the opportunity to submit innovative proposals.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs stated that this press conference specially invited outstanding teams from previous years to "return home," including GreenhopeBCTW, CropNow, and Beyond Hearing, to share their development progress and practical application experiences after participating in the competition, demonstrating that the International Session is not just a competition but also an important starting point for promoting the growth and dissemination of innovative solutions.
