2026 Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival to Debut at Dongshan River Water Park on July 4

(CNA reporter Shen Ruofeng, Yilan County, July 2) The 2026 Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival will be held from July 4 to August 16 at the Dongshan River Water Park. This year's theme is "Forest Adventure," combining water play, nature exploration, parent-child interaction, and immersive experiences, with invited folk music and dance troupes from 18 countries for performances and exchanges. Visitors are welcome to experience and enjoy.

The Yilan County Government held a press conference at the Water Park today to unveil the festival grounds. Yilan County Acting Magistrate Lin Mao-sheng and distinguished guests launched this year's water play facilities by holding water guns.

The County Government stated that the Yilan Children's Festival always focuses on four main themes: games, exhibitions, performances, and exchanges. This year's water games include the 14-meter-high "Sacred Tree Sprite Waterway," which incorporates natural elements such as sacred trees and lucky clovers into its design, creating a childlike imagery. Visitors will experience a thrilling ride down a 30-meter transparent slide. Additionally, there are various other facilities such as water slides, a water maze, and interactive fountains.

One of this year's theme exhibition halls, "Enchanted Forest Painting," breaks away from traditional static exhibition formats by integrating multiple digital interactive technologies to create a living art and technology picture book. It features new dynamic illustration works specially created for the festival by illustrator Bao Da-shan, known for her warm, delicate, and healing artistic style.

Lin Mao-sheng said that this year's Children's Festival combines art, technology, and natural ecology in an innovative way to create a forest adventure journey that is both educational and entertaining.
