(CNA Taipei, July 2) Chinese Consul General in Osaka Xue Jian caused controversy last year with decapitation remarks after Japanese Minister Sanae Takaichi made comments about "Taiwan contingency." According to Kyodo News, Xue Jian reappeared in public on the 1st, delivering a speech criticizing Japan's "new militarism" and demanding that Japan fundamentally correct its view of China.
In early November 2025, Takaichi stated in a Diet response that if a "Taiwan contingency" (emergency situation) occurs, it could constitute a "threat to survival" situation where the Self-Defense Forces could exercise the right of collective self-defense. Xue Jian once posted on his social media account X regarding Takaichi's remarks, stating, "Such dirty heads that barge in should be chopped off without hesitation," drawing widespread attention and protests from Japan.
After a three-month silence, according to information released by the Chinese Consulate General in Osaka, Xue Jian attended a Chinese New Year greeting event at the Osaka Consulate General on February 10th of this year, emphasizing that "Facing the current severe and complex situation in Sino-Japanese relations, China's policy and stance are clear and consistent, and will not waver or change in any way."
Subsequently, Xue Jian reappeared in public on the 1st. The Chinese Consulate General in Osaka announced that Xue Jian stated at a lecture hosted by the consulate that Japan's "new militarism" is increasingly evident and that Japan should earnestly change its current erroneous China policy. Approximately 50 people, including representatives of overseas Chinese and students, attended the lecture. (Editor: Chu Chien-ling / Lu Chia-jung) 1150702
