Fire at Taoyuan Train Station's 2nd-floor eatery extinguished by sprinklers; no casualties

(Central News Agency, reporter Wu Ruiqi, Taoyuan, July 2) A fire broke out early this morning at the Taoyuan Train Station. The fire started in the kitchen of an eatery on the second floor. The Taoyuan City Fire Department responded to the scene and found that the automatic sprinkler system had already activated and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries or fatalities, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Some netizens posted on social media, stating that they arrived at Taoyuan Train Station early in the morning to catch a train and saw fire trucks parked outside. Despite no rain, the second-floor lobby was flooded with water, and a thick layer of oil was floating on the surface. Some areas were cordoned off for cleanup, and commuters were advised to leave earlier.

The Taoyuan City Fire Department reported that firefighters were notified at 5:44 AM about a fire located on the second floor of the Taoyuan Train Station. The building is a two-story reinforced concrete structure. Upon arrival, rescue personnel found that kitchen equipment and materials in a second-floor eatery had caught fire and spread to the air conditioning unit above, with a burning area of approximately 0.5 square meters. As the automatic sprinkler system had effectively extinguished the fire, no water was needed for firefighting.

The fire department stated that the fire did not cause any trapped or injured individuals, and the fire was confined to the eatery's kitchen area without spreading. Firefighters returned after confirming the safety of the scene and completing their operations. A total of 23 firefighters, 6 fire trucks, and 2 ambulances were dispatched for this rescue operation.
