(Central News Agency, Reporter Wu Rui-chi, Taoyuan, July 2) The Taoyuan City Government today established the Taoyuan City Smart Industry Academy Foundation. Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng stated that the academy will serve as a platform for AI talent cultivation and industry guidance, and will gradually expand its courses and services to the Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli regions in the future to strengthen the development of the regional smart industry.

The "Taoyuan City Smart Industry Academy Achievement Presentation and Foundation Establishment Press Conference" was held in Taoyuan City today. Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng, Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an, and Legislator Hsu Chih-jung (Kuomintang) attended the event.

Chang San-cheng told the media that the city government will promote the Smart Industry Academy in 2025 with a dual-axis transformation strategy of "industry guidance" and "talent cultivation" to assist enterprises in adopting artificial intelligence and smart manufacturing technologies and provide personalized solutions. The academy combines industry, government, academia, and research faculty, covering fields such as information and communication technology, smart manufacturing, and healthcare. In the future, it will gradually expand to Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli, moving towards the vision of a regional smart industry academy.

Kao Hung-an, Mayor of Hsinchu, pointed out that Hsinchu and Taoyuan are both core cities in the technology corridor. They each have advantages in semiconductors, information and communication technology, smart manufacturing, and artificial intelligence, sharing supply chains and talent resources. In the future, the city government can promote industry-government-academia cooperation to continue fostering talent cultivation, technological innovation, and smart governance, creating a more complete innovation ecosystem.

Tu Tzu-chun, Chairman of the Taoyuan City Smart Industry Academy, stated in his speech that Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli are important manufacturing bases in northern Taiwan. The city government's establishment of the Smart Industry Academy will help enterprises cultivate talent, promote digital transformation and smart manufacturing, and enhance industrial competitiveness.

The Taoyuan City Department of Economic Development stated that the Taoyuan City Smart Industry Academy adopts a tiered service model. As of the end of May this year, it has served 210 enterprises, promoted 136 upgrade projects, assisted in securing over NT$393 million in subsidies, and driven corporate investment exceeding NT$825 million. Additionally, it has offered 106 training courses, cultivating approximately 45,000 individuals, and received the first prize in the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) "Global Digital Opportunity/Digital Inclusion Award."
