(Central News Agency, Reporter Li Zongxuan, Bangkok, July 2nd) To deepen the Thai tourism market, Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, and Taoyuan held a joint tourism promotion event in Bangkok today, introducing the unique travel features of Northern Taiwan to local media and travel agencies. They also launched a pop-up interactive installation and 20 themed tuk-tuks, hoping to bring tourism imagery into the daily lives of local residents.
The 2026 Northern Taiwan 4 Cities Thailand Tourism Promotion Event was held today at a hotel in downtown Bangkok, attracting many Thai businesses. Tourism heads from the four cities of Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, and Taoyuan attended to introduce their most representative tourism highlights and jointly recommend festival activities for the second half of the year, such as large city celebrations, unique cultural experiences, and season-limited events. Over 50 Thai travel agencies and 37 Northern Taiwan tourism businesses participated.
The Taipei City Department of Tourism and Information stated that they hope to connect city characteristics through festival tourism, showcasing the year-round appeal and highlights of Northern Taiwan, providing more inspiration and choices for Thai travel agencies to plan product itineraries.
Director Yu Xiang said that Taipei and Bangkok are both vibrant and creative international cities with convenient transportation and a flight time of less than 4 hours. In recent years, an increasing number of Thai travelers have chosen to visit Taipei for independent travel and family vacations. She also introduced historical sites such as Dadaocheng and Longshan Temple, as well as urban landmarks like Xinyi Commercial District and Taipei 101, to Thai businesses.
The Taipei City Department of Tourism and Information pointed out that in addition to the promotional and press conferences, the four Northern Taiwan cities will set up limited-time pop-up interactive tourism installations in well-known shopping malls in downtown Bangkok. Additionally, 20 tuk-tuks painted with representative attractions from Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, and Taoyuan will shuttle through the streets of Bangkok from July 1st to 30th. By combining Thailand's most distinctive mode of transportation with the cityscapes of Northern Taiwan, tourism imagery will be integrated into people's daily lives.
Furthermore, renowned Thai travel influencers Ratto and Mim Like This were invited to share their travel experiences from visiting the four Northern Taiwan cities, discussing food, city exploration, natural landscapes, and special activities. They will lead the public to discover the rich and diverse travel landscape of Northern Taiwan from a firsthand perspective, further enhancing the willingness of travelers to visit Taiwan.
Ambassador Lan Shixian, who is in charge of Thailand, attended the event today and stated that the willingness of Thai people to travel to Taiwan has been continuously increasing in recent years. In the past, Taiwan's tourism promotion in Thailand mainly focused on attractions or single cities. This time, four cities have come together to promote well-known and hidden gems in Taiwan, which is of great help to Thai friends visiting Taiwan.
Ratichon Supawat, a Thai travel agency representative participating in the event, pointed out that when Thai people travel to Taiwan, their favorite aspects are local snacks and cuisine, followed by shopping at night markets and enjoying natural scenery and historical culture.
The Taiwanese team will also meet with tourism industry organizations such as the Thai Outbound Tourism Association to exchange views on bilateral tourism promotion strategies, market trends, traveler needs, and tourism support services. This will deepen official partnerships and lay a solid foundation for future long-term tourism cooperation and two-way travel exchanges. (Editor: Tang Shengyang) 1150702
