(Central News Agency, Reporter Chang Jung-hsiang, Tainan, July 2nd) Chung Lien Oil Company voluntarily reported that its soybean salad oil exceeded the standard for benzo(a)pyrene (BaP). The Tainan City Government today initiated an inspection mechanism, prioritizing inspections of vendors, restaurants, night markets, and major commercial districts to confirm and immediately halt the use, delist, and recall of the product.

The Tainan City Government's Department of Health stated today that upon receiving notification from the central government and the company, it immediately launched an inspection mechanism. If citizens possess affected products announced by the company, they should suspend consumption and follow the company's announced return procedures for refunds. If there are remaining oil products, they can be returned to the original place of purchase or sales channel; do not dispose of them yourself or use them for other purposes.

Furthermore, relevant vendors should cooperate in completing the delisting and recall of the products. Recalled oil products should be handled in accordance with the Waste Disposal Act and must not be arbitrarily dumped into ditches, drainage systems, or the environment, ensuring that recalled oil products do not re-enter the market or are used for other purposes.

The Department of Health stated that it will cooperate with the central government to announce the latest information, expand the investigation into the flow and usage of affected products, and conduct inspections in accordance with the law to prevent the continued circulation of problematic products and ensure food safety.
