The Fourth Precinct of the City Police Department told CNA today that police yesterday busted an underground sports betting ring in a residential building in Anping District, arresting the main suspect, a 41-year-old man surnamed Lin, and 7 others. Computer equipment, mobile phones, account books, and cash were also seized.
Preliminary police checks reveal that the betting ring utilized the World Cup period to offer online betting services, with cumulative recorded betting transactions nearing NT$10 billion.
