(CNA, Reporter Chung, Feng, Taipei, July 1st) Industry players announced today that Taiwan's new car registrations in June reached 41,300 units, surpassing the initial forecast of 40,000 units. Industry analysis indicates that June marks the traditional peak season for the car market. Benefiting from the booming development of Taiwan's AI industry chain, which has driven replacement demand, various brands have expanded promotional offers to stimulate the market. Cumulative registrations for the first half of the year reached 202,278 units, a year-on-year increase of 2%.

Looking ahead to July, industry insiders predict that with major brands entering the final sprint of their summer promotions and a buoyant stock market releasing pent-up replacement demand, new car registrations in Taiwan are expected to be around 42,000 units, an 18% increase compared to the same period last year, continuing to show a vibrant market sales atmosphere.

According to statistics, new car registrations in Taiwan in June were 41,300 units, a 25% increase from May's 33,000 units and a 20.5% increase from 34,300 units in the same period of 2025. Cumulative new car registrations in Taiwan for the first six months of this year were nearly 202,300 units, a slight increase of about 2% from nearly 199,000 units in the same period of 2025.

Statistical data shows that Hotai Motor's TOYOTA and LEXUS brands combined registered 15,261 units in June, setting a new record for June, with a market share of 36.9%. Cumulative registrations for the first half of the year reached 76,528 units, remaining flat compared to the same period last year, with a market share of 37.8%.

Hotai Motor estimates that combined new car registrations for TOYOTA and LEXUS brands in July will be around 15,000 units, with a market share of 36%.

In the luxury car segment, statistics indicate that total registrations in Taiwan's luxury car market increased to 11,822 units in June, a 37.3% increase from May's 8,609 units. The market share rose from 26% in May to 28.6%, a 40.5% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Cumulative new car registrations for luxury cars in the first six months of this year were 49,300 units, with a market share of 24.4%, a year-on-year decrease of 2.5%.

Industry analysis suggests that the luxury car market in June benefited from strong contributions from Tesla's large volume of new car arrivals and deliveries. Tesla delivered 4,369 vehicles in June, a 1.45-fold increase from May's 1,781 units, propelling Tesla to the top position in the luxury car rankings and second place in the import car rankings for June.
