43rd Zengwen Reservoir Marathon in 2026 Opens for Registration, Scheduled for December 13

(CNA Reporter Chang Jung-hsiang Tainan, July 1) The 43rd Zengwen Reservoir Marathon in 2026 is scheduled to take place on December 13. The Tainan City Government announced that registration for this event opened yesterday, inviting runners from across the country to challenge the reservoir marathon course and experience the unique natural scenery and humanistic charm of Tainan's mountainous areas.

The Sports Bureau of the Tainan City Government issued a press release stating that the Zengwen Reservoir Marathon, founded in 1983, is entering its 43rd year, making it Taiwan's longest-running marathon event and one of the country's classic road races.

This year's event includes a full marathon (42.195 kilometers), a challenge group (21.3 kilometers), a road running group (12 kilometers), and a health and leisure group (3 kilometers) to meet the needs of runners of different levels.

The Sports Bureau stated that the Zengwen Reservoir Marathon will have fully closed roads, starting from the Southern Region Water Resources Bureau of the Water Resources Agency. The course will pass by famous scenic spots such as Zengwen Bridge No. 3, Xipian Recreation Area, Zengwen Bridge No. 4, the reservoir dam crest, and the Eye of Zengwen, allowing runners to sprint freely in a safe environment free from vehicle interference while enjoying the picturesque lake and mountain views.

In addition, participants who register this year will receive a participation shirt. Those who register for the marathon and challenge groups will also receive a shoe bag. Completion prizes include a medal, a towel, and a drawstring bag. Additional commemorative merchandise available for purchase includes a sports cap, a Zengwen Marathon co-branded water-repellent tote bag, and a Zengwen Marathon co-branded commemorative T-shirt.
