(Central News Agency Reporter Chang Hsiung-feng Taipei, July 1st) July, the height of summer, also marks the official start of students' summer vacation. The National Environmental Education Center of the Ministry of the Environment has compiled statistics from 276 validly certified environmental education locations across Taiwan to identify the top 10 most popular spots for "outdoor learning," providing the best travel guide for family outings that combine education and entertainment.
According to the National Environmental Education Center's full-year statistics from last year, the top 10 most popular outdoor learning locations in order are: Taipei Zoo, Good Times Leisure Farm, Shanhua Brewery, National Taiwan University Agricultural Farm Agronomy Branch, National Taiwan University Highland Experimental Farm, Guandu Nature Park, Qishan Sugar Factory Community, National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, Agriculture and Food Agency, Biodiversity Research Institute, and New Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park.
The National Environmental Education Center stated that among the top 10 list, private institutions (private sector) account for 3 spots. In addition to "Good Times Leisure Farm" in Daxi, Taoyuan, which ranked second, there are also "Guandu Nature Park" in Taipei City and "Qishan Sugar Factory Community" in Kaohsiung.
"Good Times Leisure Farm," which ranked first among private institutions, is dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture in daily life. Here, visitors can not only experience touching the soil, kiln baking, and food and agriculture education, but also witness a concrete example of circular agriculture: using black soldier flies to decompose kitchen waste and raise laying hens, and then using the high-quality eggs as ingredients for visitors.
"Guandu Nature Park" is an extremely precious national-level important wetland in the greater Taipei area. It is not only professionally managed by the Taipei City Bird Watching Society under commission from the Taipei City Government, but it is also Taiwan's first certified environmental education location.
"Qishan Sugar Factory Community" combines the history of the century-old sugar factory with the rural circular economy through community participation. It guides parent-child families to process banana pseudostems, agricultural waste, into fibers through drawing and extraction, not only significantly increasing agricultural output value but also allowing children to witness firsthand how technology and creativity can reduce carbon emissions.
