Taiwan Stocks Rise Sharply, Closing Up 893 Points

(CNA Taipei, 1st) The Taiwan stock market opened higher and continued to rise today, closing up 893.08 points at 47018.99 points, a gain of 1.94%, with a transaction value of NT$1.301972 trillion.

The weighted stock index opened at 46234.70 points, reaching a high of 47293.10 points and a low of 46234.70 points during the trading session; the index excluding financial stocks was 42442.64 points, up 929.16 points.

Percentage changes for the eight major stock categories: Cement and ceramics stocks fell 3.12%, food stocks rose 0.07%, petrochemical stocks rose 3.28%, textile stocks rose 0.18%, machinery and electrical stocks rose 2.40%, paper stocks fell 0.91%, construction stocks rose 0.21%, and financial stocks fell 1.71%.

Buy orders were 23,642,645 shares, sell orders were 18,684,335 shares, and transaction volume was 14,491,414 shares.

At the close, 441 stocks advanced, 574 declined, and 898 remained unchanged.

The top 5 stocks by transaction volume were AUO, Innolux, Proactive Uni Upgrade 50, Proactive Uni Taiwan Stock Growth, and China Synthetic Fiber.

The top 5 stocks by percentage gain were Lodes, Nansin, C-One, F-Tech, and King's.

The top 5 stocks by percentage loss were F-Power, Exicon, Winbond, GIS-KY, and Fuan.
