PLG's Wang Ding-jun Selected First Overall by Yankees Engineering, "A Bit Surprised" to Be Top Pick

Wang Ding-jun from the UBA powerhouse CTBC Financial Holding University of Technology, was selected by Yankees Engineering as the top pick. He stated he was very excited and a bit surprised to be the first one called.

A total of 25 players registered for this PLG league draft. Yankees Engineering, holding the first pick, chose Wang Ding-jun, a guard from CTBC Financial Holding University of Technology. Following that, Taiwan Beer Leopards and Taipei Fubon Braves selected Lee Sheng-hsin, a forward from Fu Jen Catholic University, and foreign student Mo Sen, respectively. The fourth pick, Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, selected Wu Chih-kai, a forward from the UBA championship team National Chengchi University. All teams forfeited their second-round picks, concluding the draft.

Yankees Engineering General Manager Chien Wei-cheng told the media that their original plan was to recruit a capable point guard. After extensive research, they assessed that Wang Ding-jun's individual abilities, on-court attitude, and overall statistics best fit the team's needs, hence their selection. They will continue to monitor the situation of undrafted players and do not rule out further reinforcements.

Stepping onto the professional stage as the top pick, Wang Ding-jun revealed he was very nervous and excited. He didn't expect to be the first one called and felt more relaxed upon hearing his name, finally having the opportunity to play in the professional basketball league. He stated that Yankees Engineering is a very energetic team with many rookies, so he needs to show his fighting spirit.
