(CNA Reporter Hong Su-jin Taipei, June 30) Veteran artist Chen Mei-feng will celebrate her 70th birthday tomorrow. She has deep feelings about elderly care, stating that everyone grows old and should think ahead when young. If children are not around and finances are poor, it will be truly difficult. She urges everyone to step forward and donate to give them some warmth.
Chen Mei-feng is the chairperson of the Taiwan Association for Quality of Life and actively participates in charity events. Today, she attended the "Hualien-Taitung Care, One Meal One Aid" charity project, a collaboration between Menno Foundation and 7-ELEVEN. Speaking about elderly care, Chen Mei-feng admitted that she felt emotional when visiting the elderly and seeing their children were not around. "They all long for their children to be by their side. People truly grow old. One must think ahead when young. If children are not around and finances are poor, it is very difficult."
Chen Mei-feng stated that charity organizations and entrepreneurs are important. Young people should also call their parents often to show concern and urged the public to donate more to help those who have contributed to Taiwan, giving them some warmth. For elderly living alone, one should also frequently ring their doorbell to check on them. As for her own elderly care, Chen Mei-feng said she has siblings, friends, and family, and should go out more when friends invite her.
Chen Mei-feng mentioned that life is not easy for young people today, and the environment has changed. "I think when we artists do things, we can exert our influence and hope to let more people know. I am happy to do any charity work I can."
On Chen Mei-feng's birthday, her good friend Jerry Yan sends her a message to congratulate her. Chen Mei-feng praised Jerry Yan for not having an idol persona in private. As for whether she has introduced a partner to Jerry Yan, Chen Mei-feng admitted it's a bit difficult. "I'm not his mother, so I can't worry about his marriage." (Editor: Li Heng-shan) 1150630
