Fishing Line of Affection, Fishing Day: Penghu Fenggui Elementary School's First Summer Class Catches Emotion

(Penghu, June 30, CNA) Penghu schools are on summer vacation. Fenggui Elementary School held its closing ceremony today with "Fishing Line of Affection, Sustainable Co-Prosperity Fishing Day." The school allowed children to bring fishing rods to the seaside to fish, hoping they would fall in love with the ocean during their summer break and be willing to protect it.

Under the collaboration of Poya, the Department of Marine Recreation at National Penghu University of Science and Technology, and the Taiwan Fishing Tackle Industry Association, children at Fenggui Elementary School's "Fishing Line of Affection, Sustainable Co-Prosperity Fishing Day" eagerly brought their fishing rods to the seaside for their first summer class, to get close to and learn about the ocean.

"Teacher! My float moved!" Every child was intently watching the sea surface. The moment the first fish was pulled out of the water, cheers erupted on the shore. What was caught was not just fish, but the most sincere emotion and responsibility towards the ocean, a perfect portrayal of ocean citizens.

Principal Lin Yan-ling stated that the best education is not just about children learning knowledge, but about integrating into life and getting close to nature. During the summer break, the school launched the "Fishing Line of Affection, Sustainable Co-Prosperity Fishing Day" activity. Through real experiences, children learned to respect life and cherish the environment. It also allowed children to re-establish a connection with the land and the ocean, fall in love with the ocean, and thus be willing to protect it.

The "Fishing Line of Affection, Sustainable Co-Prosperity Fishing Day" activity at Fenggui Elementary School in Penghu included courses such as "Getting to Know the Ocean Starts with Fishing" and experiencing sea fishing in the harbor area. These aim to cultivate life education that fosters concentration, patience, observation, and a sense of responsibility, creating the most unforgettable and meaningful memories for the summer break.
