"The Rope Curse 4" Trailer Released, Director Reveals Most Ferocious Evil Spirit to Appear

(Central News Agency Reporter Wang Hsin-yu Taipei, June 30) The latest installment in "The Rope Curse" series, "The Rope Curse 4: Kuntilana," released its teaser trailer today. Director Liao Shih-han stated that during his research, he found Kuntilana to be a suitable addition to the story, and that she will become the most ferocious evil spirit in the series, with hopes of expanding Taiwan's exclusive exorcism narratives.

The film reunites producer Tsou Chieh-chung and director Liao Shih-han, with a cast including Chen Xue-zhen, Hsu An-chih, Chen Po-cheng, Liu Kuo-shao, and Hu Yu-heng. The production team spent three years in preparation. Kuntilana, in legend, died during childbirth and specializes in possessing those with resentment and obsession, continuously searching for her lost child.

Director Liao Shih-han stated through the production team today that Kuntilana is one of the most ferocious and difficult evil spirits in "The Rope Curse" series. Producer Tsou Chieh-chung hopes to continue the folk horror style that audiences enjoy and to expand Taiwan's exclusive stories of terrifying exorcism culture.

Regarding her continued role, Chen Xue-zhen expressed, "I feel very apprehensive because I have to face the great demon king Kuntilana. In some Asian countries, just hearing her name gives people goosebumps. After filming The Rope Curse, I became a bit sensitive. Before filming, I asked the crew to help avoid taboos. This role also has a greater breakthrough, so everyone can look forward to it."

Hsu An-chih said, "I was very excited when I received the script. It gives me a sense of security to work with familiar actors again. My exorcism abilities and psychological state have significantly improved, and I believe it will bring a different experience to the audience."
