(Taipei, June 30, CNA) Swiss Bank (UBS) released its annual Global Wealth Report today, stating that global personal total wealth grew by 10.8% in 2025, reaching a new high increase in several years, thanks to strong financial market performance. The world thus gained nearly 1 million new millionaires in U.S. dollar terms.
Reuters reported that UBS's latest Global Wealth Report analyzes 56 markets, estimating that they account for over 92% of the world's wealth. According to the report, the growth rate of global personal wealth last year was significantly higher than the 4.6% in 2024 and 4.2% in 2023, pushing the number of millionaires worldwide to a historic high.
The UBS report shows that in U.S. dollar terms, nearly half of the new millionaires globally last year were in the United States, with over 440,000. European billionaires' wealth grew at a disproportionate rate compared to other regions, largely due to the depreciation of the U.S. dollar against the Euro last year.
However, UBS also pointed out that despite the rise in global average wealth, the wealth gap has widened since 2020, with the median wealth declining in most countries, highlighting the growing disparity between the wealthiest population and the broader public.
