Shen Po-yang Secures Additional Central Government Flood Subsidies; Chiang Wan-an Says "All Good Things"

(CNA reporter Chen Yu-ting, Taipei, June 30) Following recent flooding in Taipei's Neihu District due to heavy rainfall, Democratic Progressive Party Legislator and Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang stated today that he has secured additional central government subsidies and urged the city government to expedite the creation of beneficiary lists. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an responded that "all are good things" and that district offices have already compiled the lists.

Shen Po-yang stated today that Neihu District suffered disaster on June 25 due to heavy rainfall. He began discussions with the Executive Yuan that same day on how to provide assistance and successfully secured additional central government subsidies of NT$20,000 for those whose homes were flooded by 50 centimeters or more, and NT$10,000 for appliance damage for those flooded by 30 centimeters. These apply nationwide. He hopes local governments will swiftly complete the beneficiary lists so that the funds can reach disaster victims as soon as possible.

When questioned by reporters today before attending the press conference for the full activation of Taipei Metro's diverse payment options, Chiang Wan-an said that whether it was Shen Po-yang or Kuomintang Legislator Lee Yen-hsiu assisting yesterday, it is a good thing for legislators to secure increased subsidies from the central government. He added that district offices have already completed the beneficiary lists and he has requested the simplification of all subsidy distribution procedures to help disaster victims return to normal life as soon as possible.

On June 26, Chiang Wan-an visited Neihu District to inspect post-disaster recovery efforts and distributed慰問金 (condolence payments) to residents. It was later discovered that one recipient was a resident on the fourth floor, who was not among the intended recipients.

When asked about this matter today, Chiang Wan-an stated that the district office has already provided a clear explanation to the public and that subsequent actions will be handled in accordance with relevant regulations and procedures.

The Neihu District Office stated that the condolence payments were accompanied by signed beneficiary lists. Of the 322 households planned for distribution, 282 had been completed as of yesterday. Regarding the incident of the fourth-floor resident mistakenly receiving a payment, the district office personally visited the residence to retrieve the funds.

Additionally, yesterday, when Chiang Wan-an was promoting the Taipei City Water Resources Department's LINE official account and app, "Love Taipei Water Green" (戀戀水綠), he mispronounced it as "Green Green Water Love" (綠綠水戀), which sparked discussion.

Chiang Wan-an said today that he misspoke yesterday, "I will practice more when I get back." He once again encouraged the public to join the LINE official account and app to receive various water information, such as rainfall amounts and real-time water levels. (Edited by Chang Ya-ching) 1150630
