(Central News Agency Tokyo, June 30, Comprehensive Foreign News) Japanese media reported today that Universal Studios Japan (USJ) announced that starting September 1st this year, it will adopt a new mechanism where ticket prices will be adjusted based on market demand after tickets go on sale. This means that even tickets purchased on the same day will vary in price depending on the time of purchase.
According to Yomiuri Television (ytv), the current one-day pass price for Universal Studios Japan already varies depending on the season, with adult ticket prices ranging from 8,900 yen (approximately NT$1,780) to 11,900 yen (approximately NT$2,380). Purchasing tickets after they go on sale currently costs the "same price."
However, Universal Studios Japan plans to implement a new policy starting September 1st this year. In addition to the existing seasonal dynamic pricing, ticket prices will increase even after they have gone on sale.
This measure can be considered an expansion of dynamic pricing, and even tickets purchased on the same day will have different prices depending on the time of purchase.
Universal Studios Japan stated that the actual extent of the price increase will "not be disclosed."
Reports speculate that the park intends to spread out visitor demand. Universal Studios Japan stated, "This is intended to enhance the customer experience and improve the efficiency of park operations." (Compiled by Yang Wei-ching) 1150630
