(Central News Agency, Kinmen, June 30) Acting Prosecutor General of the Supreme Prosecutors Office Hsu Hsi-hsiang said today that Kinmen County's election winners have relatively low vote counts, making it more susceptible to the problem of ghost voters. Vote buying in the form of cash and gifts will still occur. "We are investigating very vigorously, and once vote buying is detected, the penalty starts at 3 years."

The local public official elections concluded on November 28. The Kinmen District Prosecutors Office held an anti-vote buying pledge ceremony and calligraphy and painting awards ceremony, attended by Hsu Hsi-hsiang and Director of the Ministry of Justice's Department of Protective Services Hung Hsin-hsu, among others.

Hsu Hsi-hsiang stated that to combat increasingly serious election interference crimes, the Supreme Prosecutors Office is fully mobilizing to supervise and investigate election interference work. He hopes that all agencies, including prosecutors, police, investigation bureaus,廉政署 (anti-corruption agency), and immigration, will form a united front, acting together upon receiving intelligence to actively investigate. "This is not about making things difficult for candidates; it's about maintaining fair elections," he said, to elect good talent who can lead good public servants and public construction. He urged candidates not to break the law.

Kinmen District Prosecutors Office Chief Prosecutor Chao Yen-li said that the district prosecutors office has successively held relevant anti-vote buying meetings and special meetings on ghost voters. As of the end of June, the number of cases filed involving election interference has reached double digits, an increase compared to the same period in the previous election, indicating initial effectiveness in tip-offs and intelligence reporting.
