(CNA Taipei, June 30) YouTuber Sun Sheng, a member of the group "Hofans" (反骨男孩), was indicted by the Taipei District Prosecutors Office on four charges including rape and indecent assault, with prosecutors seeking severe penalties. The Taipei District Court today sentenced him to 10 months for one count of indecent assault and 6 months for one count of sexual intercourse with a person under 16, for a combined sentence of 1 year and 4 months for these two offenses.
Regarding the sentences eligible for commutation to fines, the collegiate bench ruled that Sun Sheng committed one count of indecent assault, for which he was sentenced to 6 months. He also committed one count of illegal use of personal data by a non-public entity under the Personal Data Protection Act, for which he was sentenced to 4 months. These two offenses are to be served concurrently, resulting in a total prison sentence of 9 months, commutable to a fine at a rate of NT$1,000 per day.
The Taipei District Prosecutors Office stated in its indictment that on the evening of October 5, 2022, Sun Sheng went to the residence of adult female A1 to cut her hair. After finishing, the two were smoking and chatting on the balcony when Sun Sheng allegedly committed indecent assault against A1.
In the early morning of March 17, 2023, Sun Sheng was filming at the residence of adult female A2. After filming concluded, while A2 was resting on the bed, he allegedly pounced on her and committed indecent assault.
Furthermore, on the evening of October 13, 2023, Sun Sheng invited minor female A3 to his residence under the pretext of watching him practice dancing. While A3 was focused on listening to music, he allegedly committed sexual intercourse with her.
Separately, on the evening of July 8, 2024, Sun Sheng booked a room at a hotel in Taipei's Zhongshan District with adult female A4 and recorded eight videos of their sexual activity. Unexpectedly, Sun Sheng later played the sexual videos to his friends without authorization.
During the investigation, prosecutors reviewed relevant evidence, testimonies, and mobile phone conversation records, concluding that Sun Sheng was involved in charges of indecent assault under the Criminal Code, unauthorized broadcasting of others' sexual imagery, and violations of the Personal Data Protection Act. Regarding the offense against the minor, he was charged with intentional sexual intercourse with a minor by an adult under the Criminal Code. He was indicted accordingly, with prosecutors arguing that Sun Sheng repeatedly harassed the victims to provide false testimony or refuse cooperation with the investigation, indicating a poor post-offense attitude, and requested the court to impose a heavy sentence.
The Taipei District Court today handed down separate sentences for the four charges against Sun Sheng: 10 months for one count of indecent assault; 6 months for one count of sexual intercourse with a person under 16, for which he may apply for social labor. For the sentences commutable to fines, he received 6 months for one count of indecent assault and 4 months for one violation of the Personal Data Protection Act. These two offenses eligible for commutation to fines are to be served concurrently for a total of 9 months. The court has not yet explained the facts of the crimes determined or the reasons for sentencing. (Edited by Lin Shu-hui) 1150630
