Taipei, June 29 (CNA) -- The 2026 EARTH MONDAMIN CUP, the richest purse in JLPGA history, concluded today with Taiwan's Wu Chia-yen finishing in a tie for 9th place at 7-under par 281 over four rounds, marking her fourth top-10 finish this season.
The EARTH MONDAMIN CUP, organized by the Japan Ladies Professional Golfers' Association (JLPGA), may not be one of the four major championships on the tour, but it boasts a record-breaking total prize money of 400 million Japanese yen (approximately NT$78.8 million), with the champion receiving 72 million yen (approximately NT$14.2 million).
However, the tournament, originally scheduled for June 25-28, faced delays due to the outer bands of a typhoon affecting the first two rounds. The third round was postponed, and a makeup round was played, allowing the tournament to conclude successfully today.
Wu Chia-yen, who has already secured one JLPGA victory this year, was tied for 13th place at 213 after the makeup of the third round. She then delivered a stronger performance in the final round, carding five birdies, three bogeys, and one eagle for a 68, propelling her into the top 10.
Another Taiwanese player, Lu Hsia-ching, was tied for 10th place at 212 after the first three rounds. Unfortunately, she shot a 74 in the final round, finishing in 23rd place at 2-under par 286.
South Korea's Park Hyun-kyung, nicknamed "Cute," won her first JLPGA title with a total score of 12-under par 276 over four rounds.
The 26-year-old Park Hyun-kyung has already won eight titles on the Korean Tour and is considered the successor to veteran Lee Bo-mee, who holds 21 JLPGA career titles. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150629)
