Taiwan Design Expo to Debut in Taoyuan in September, Themed Character Unveiled

(CNA reporter Wang Bao-er Taipei, June 29) The Taiwan Design Expo will debut in Taoyuan in September. The Taiwan Design Research Institute announced today that Taoyuan, known as the "Hometown of a Thousand Ponds," will be the theme of this year's exhibition, and designer Flowmomo has been specially created for the event.

The Taiwan Design Research Institute stated in a press release today that Taoyuan boasts transportation advantages as a national gateway hub and is home to diverse cultural groups. This Taiwan Design Expo aims to promote design integration into the city, using design as a medium to announce the city's new phase and to open up Taoyuan with design, leading the public to see the creative energy of "Taoyuan Flow."

This year's Taiwan Design Expo will feature Qingpu and Zhongli as the two main exhibition areas. The exhibition venues will cover the Taoyuan Convention and Exhibition Center, the Qingpu Smart Technology Branch of the Taoyuan Public Library, and the Zhongyuan Cultural and Creative Park, comprising three main exhibition halls and a total of 16 themed exhibitions. Five satellite exhibition areas include the outdoor space of the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts, the Taoyuan Children's Art Museum, the Hengshan Calligraphy Art Museum, the Indigenous Exhibition Area, and the Daxi Wood Art Eco-Museum.

The main visual for this exhibition was co-created by designer Li Ming-dao of "akibo works" and creative director Li Yi-xuan of "StudioPros." Notably, Li Ming-dao designed the exhibition's themed character, Flowmomo, portraying it as a creative sprite born in Taoyuan. It has a cute appearance resembling the Lalashan peaches, and the iconic landing gear design at the bottom echoes Taoyuan's unique status as the nation's aviation gateway.
