(CNA Taipei, June 29) The new representative of the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, Irit Ben-Abba, assumed office today. Ben-Abba specializes in East Asian and African affairs and previously served as Minister-Counselor to Japan before her assignment in Taiwan.
Irit Ben-Abba officially took office today, succeeding Maya Yaron, the former representative of the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei (ISECO). Yaron has been assigned to Fiji.
Ben-Abba holds a Master's degree in Diplomacy and Security from Tel Aviv University and a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication and Education from the University of Haifa. She is a career diplomat. Prior to her appointment in Taiwan, she served as the Director of the Africa Division at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has been posted to the Embassy of Israel in Japan multiple times, including as Minister-Counselor. She has also served in Nigeria and Georgia, among other countries.
