The New Taipei Metro Sanying Line is set to begin trial operations on June 30, following approval from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. During the two-month trial period ending August 31, passengers using electronic tickets—such as EasyCard, iPASS, or iCash—can travel for free by tapping in and out at gates. Those without electronic tickets must purchase single-journey tickets. The date for the commencement of full commercial fare collection will be announced at a later time.
The 14.29-kilometer line consists of 12 stations, with LB01 Dingpu Station providing interchange access to the Taipei Metro Bannan Line, and LB08 Yingge Station offering connectivity to the Taiwan Railways. Fares will follow a tiered system consistent with the Taipei-New Taipei Metro network, ranging from NT$20 to NT$35.
To encourage ridership, the New Taipei Metro Corporation will launch a 'Frequent Rider Rewards Program,' offering a NT$50 rebate for every NT$200 spent using electronic tickets. During the trial period, operating hours are from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (with a 2:00 PM start on opening day). Headways are scheduled at 6 minutes during peak hours and 8 minutes off-peak, subject to adjustments based on passenger volume. Once fully operational, the line will run from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM, covering the full route from LB01 to LB12 in approximately 30 minutes.
The trial period serves as a stress test for the system, allowing operators to collect passenger feedback and refine the autonomous driving parameters. These insights will be used to enhance passenger comfort and operational efficiency before full-scale service begins.
